GEN-X: We Survived It All

Before helmets, before Wi-Fi, before common sense — we survived it all.

Half-hour single-camera comedySpokane, late 1970s and 1980sPodcast companion

Logline

A Gen-X kid grows up in Spokane navigating a wildly unsupervised world of bad decisions, backyard chaos and tough love, where survival wasn't guaranteed but the stories are unforgettable.

The series

Donny, brothers Brian and Greg, parents Don and Janet, and their extended circle turn family legends into a fast, irreverent half-hour comedy. Present-day conversations launch stylized flashbacks to the mishaps nobody in the family tells quite the same way.

The podcast

A companion audio show gives Donny and guests room to revisit the real memories behind the scripts, trade competing versions and hear the stories that cannot fit into a half-hour episode.

Story engine

Each episode begins with a present-day memory and plunges into a childhood adventure. Fireworks, sledding hills, BMX jumps and other Spokane landmarks provide a continuing supply of chaos, character and heart.

Creator

Created by Donny McGuire, a television producer and podcast host drawing on his family and upbringing in Spokane. The series and podcast are concepts in development.

A nostalgic family comedy with the speed of a tall tale and the warmth of a reunion.
